LASIK
What is LASIK?
LASIK, or laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis, is a type of refractive surgery that changes the shape of your cornea using a special laser. This improves your vision, and reduces the need for glasses, or rids you of them entirely. This can be done for nearsighted or farsighted patients.
Who is a candidate for LASIK?
-
You should be 21 years or older.
-
Your eye prescription should not have changed much in the last year.
-
Your refractive error must be one that can be treated with LASIK.
-
Your corneas need to be thick enough and healthy, and your overall eye health must be generally good.
-
You need to have realistic expectations about what LASIK can and cannot do for you.
Not everyone is a candidate for LASIK. Another alternative would be a lens exchange.
To determine if you are a good candidate for LASIK, you will need a consult with Dr. Kortz first. Please call us and ask about a LASIK consult today!
